Neat Story:
i have to tell you my first miracle, it was AWESOME. i had been thinking all weekend about how i was going to be on my first day, what would i try and do. while praying on saturday i had the impression that i should fast on monday, the day before i would leave the MTC. i prayed and fasted that the lord would prepare me to recognize who i needed to teach, that i would know what to say and that they would be ready for it. while waiting for the airplane i tried talking to a couple of people (i gave some directions in spanish that was pretty cool) but it didnt get anywhere, gave a pass along card and my testimony. Got on the plane (it was a pretty small plane maybe fifty passengers, about twenty of which were missionaries headed for cali. i sat down in my seat next to the window and got ready to be bored for a few hours, when a young lady sat in front of me, as soon as i saw her i thought, "i could teach her... but it would be really hard since im sitting behind her and besides shes sitting next to another missionary already..." but it turns out that missionary was in the wrong seat and I. I ended up next to the girl. we talked, i asked her about her family, school, and got to know her. we were getting along really great talking about whats important and the church came up alot, turns out she had some questions, i asked her if i could clear some things up about what we really believe and why we are different. she said shed like that very much! so right there in the middle of the flight to my mission field, thousands of feet above the ground, i asked a sister who was sitting in front of hannah to be my companion (she was the only one able to hear our conversation) and we opened up with a prayer and taught the restoration of the Gospel, prophets, apostles priesthood, Joseph Smith, The book of Mormon. the spirit was so strong, and She asked wonderful questions, that before would have been hard for me to answer. but after preparing in the MTC and having the spirit there with me i knew what to say, how to answer her questions and resolve her concerns. while teaching her and bearing my testimony to her, i was able to feel that Christ-like Love ive heard so much about. not a romantic love, but the love and admiration of a child of God. Her questions and comments were so sincere, and when i looked into her eyes, they were different, different than when we started, there was a depth... i cant explain it. she commiitted to reading the book of mormon, because she knew how important it would be for her to know if its true. she had been wondering about where she belonged, wanted to start going to church again. and she was very grateful for us to have taught her. i was even more grateful to have that experience, that feeling of helping bring another child to Christ. what a perfect way to start my mission, what an answer to prayer and fasting. we parted ways in the terminal and Sis henrickson and i spritual-high-fived, we were so excited.
