Dearest Hettig family. I will be in your presence in a short while. I will leave with just a couple of things. I know God Lives. He is my Father in Heaven. Jesus Christ is our Saviour. Joseph Smith is a Prophet of God. The Book of Mormon is true. I know it. How? read Alma 5:45-47. I will leave you all my testimony in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen. Good morning my family, I LOVE YOU! I am so deeply moved by your love for me as a servant and disciple of Christ. I have no greater calling in my life at this moment it time that could ever compare to the calling of a messenger of truth. I would spend all me life on my mission if I could. The truth goes forth. I always remember the great experiences I've had during my past two years. It will always be a blessing to me. I will never forget the hard times. I will never forget the pains, afflictions, sicknesses, broken body, broken heart, sore soul and tormented mind. The emotional battle I have faced, the physical battle I always face, the spiritual battle I embrace. I have so much more to give. I have so much more to be thankful for. I had a companion recently decide that he wanted to go home. He didn't understand why he was here. I worked with him and loved him, but it wasn't enough. I was recently talking with another Elder, and he commented on my companion. He said that this mission is all about molding. I had really thought about it more, I know that my mission has been a molding period. Now, smooth things don't become smooth any other way than by actually grinding it down till all edges and curves are smooth. How do you become a master finding? You just do it. Grind! How do you become a master at teaching? You study with all your heart and go and teach with confidence inside of you. How do you see baptisms? You do the above with all your might and baptisms will come with overflowing. I am going to draw closer to Christ more this week on my mission than I have ever done before. This will be one week full of joy to be in the service of my fellow beings. I am thankful to have this testimony that God lives and Jesus is the Christ, the Prophet Joseph Smith and the Book Of Mormon is all true. I leave this testimony with you in the name of Jesus the Christ, Amen. Posted by: ELDER HETTIG Date: March 14, 2007
Hey my wonderful family. Im loving the hot weather, i won't get much of it soon. I love the people. They can be hard at times, but there are the elect amongst them all. We have had a few experiences lately in our area. A lady named Leona Welk we meet yesterday, prayed only 10 minutes before we knocked on her door that God would help her to be comforted. We were an answer to her prayer and she was an answer to our prayer. So many great times I enjoy and will continue to enjoy. Excitting times. Gotta love the grind. We have been working hard with some of our investigator families from Africa. They really are excited to see us and they love it when we teach them. I love it too. Well i dont have long to go but i will use every bit of it to be more grateful for it. I love you all and dad i sent the size to you to your email.i think it was no.16. Thanks, I love you ... Posted by: Elder Hettig Date: March 7, 2007

Hey the HETTIG family. I was also excited to here that the office organsed me to fly to Melbourne. I love the pictures. He's a big boy huh. Looks like a Hettig alright! I look forward to seeing the little cutie. Tell everyone I love them dad. I really am enjoying the last month. I will work hard to the end. President has put me on bike now. Im with a new companion, Elder Ashcroft. Yep, from Utah. We are working hard. We really are enthused to work. Kuol's baptism was brilliant. He was so excited. He bore his testimony and his onpening line was "Brothers and Sisters, I want to speak to you today about choices!" He described how he made the choice for himself to have us come and teach him, he made the choice to be baptised. He did it. I was so blown away. Such great faith and strength he has. I love this boy. Well, i guess ill see you all next week online, let Baron know i have read all that I said I would, and im still going to carry on. I'm reading 1 Nephi 6 tomorrow and will carry on through with you. If your not yet up to chapt 5 then, catch up, you need to read this book fast, don't get behind, its too important to slack behind. I love you all, keep me in your prayers. Yours faithfully, Posted by: Elder Hettig Date: February 28, 2007
Hey Elder Hettig, Just at the office and realise you'll be checking your emails soon. We picked up Johnny from the airport on Monday and had a bbq/fhe at uncle d's that night. Then mummy took off for Melbourne to be see our grandson, Zucchero. Hes a real sugar, can't wait to grab him. You're gonna enjoy seeing him in your visit there. Syrene's looking forward to your visit and will pick you up from the airport that day. Hope your work is still thriving and you're giving good service for your last hours there. Very proud of you son and your diligence and good heart. Hope Kuols baptism went well. The parents will feel the spirit in the end. I think about these families from Africa and it is now their time. The missionary work is reaching those good brothers and sisters now. Exciting times huh. Herewini just got back from the Cook Islands doing wanangas there. He did about 27 there during that week he was there. Vernons folks are in charge of the mission work there in the Cooks and they organised everything for him there. They're wanting to organise a stake for the island and I think its well under way now. The adversary really works harder when we start to pickup as well. We've got a Stake week long Temple excursion in the first week of April which you will time in well with us. Its to help step up the work and it is creating a great deal of momentum in all the stakes back here. Keep it up son, and hold fast right to the end. Love Dad Posted by: Dad Date: February 28, 2007

He always surprises me. Im really proud of him and his committment to Christ. I have a few things to do this week so ill keep this short. But I love you all, and I do look forward to seeing you all next month. Hey Baron, you need to start now with the Book of Mormon. Just read a chapter at a time. I would like to read with you. At the moment im reading Jacob 5. Its the longest chapter in the Book of Mormon, but a great one to get an understanding on the House of Israel. On friday ill start with you. We will read on friday(Title page, introduction, 3 + 8 witnesses); Saturday(testimony of Prophet Joseph Smith, brief explanation); Sunday(1 Nephi 1); Monday(ch 2), tues(3), wed(4), thu(5). By thursday email me, and give me a report on what you have learnt. I love you brother. Hey again. yet another week has gone by. This week has been full on. Kuol will be baptised on Saturday 24th February. He finally got permission from his parents. He was so happy. I can't be too long, but we are very busy today. But I want to express my love and deepest thanks and sincerely wish you all to be richly blessed. I'm loving being here. I wish I could stay. Every morning I wake up, and think about our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and then directly think about the investigators that we are teaching, and even those who we will be teaching. This has been a best practise of mine. Constant mindset on the eternities. I was so filled with love when I saw my little nephew Zu. I am so blessed in all things. Tell Syrene and Andy I love them heaps. Talk to you all next week...love you...p.s. Brother Manitua Tetaria, you know I can't email you. So ill do that when I get home...love you my brother...and congratulations on the marrige... Posted by: Elder Hettig Date: February 14, 2007

Hey son, just about to have family home evening and I guess you're about two family home evenings away from being home. You probably haven't heard yet, but Syrene had her baby on the Friday, 9th February at 4am. A healthy 10lb boy. He's a beauty and looks like me actually. Lucky kid huh? Syrene showed us a live vidcam view of him the other day and Baron copied photo pictures of him and saved them. I'll get Baron to put them on your photos board here. We had Stake Conference here on the weekend and a couple more young men got their callings. An Elder Iosia from Swanson ward going to the Marshall Islands and a young man from the Samoan ward going to Adelaide mission. He'll miss you there as he hasn't gone to MTC yet. Elder Simon Kaipo gets back from Kiribati Islands this Tuesday. We've got a few Kiribati investigators here in our area and will use him to help teach them for us. Well son, keep going hard right to the end. Hows Kuol Kuol doing? Is he from an African country? We have some African folk here that you will identify with from Zimbabwe and Botswana. They're lovely people. We have the Joseph Smith Cantata on this coming weekend at the Logan Campbell Centre and all the tickets have sold out. Its a great missionary tool and theyve sold out over 5,000 tickets. Well when we say sold, it means handed out. Its a great tool actually. Love you son, proud of your good work and your enduring right through to the end. Love dad. Posted by: Dad Date: February 12, 2007

hey all, Im doing great out here in the Australia Adelaide Mission. My week was full on. We are teaching a boy named Kuol Kuol. Yes his first name is the same as his last, just like the samoans.haha. We committed him to be baptised on the 24th February. I will be so thrilled to see that happen. He had some great dreams to help him know what to do. He said he dreamed about coming to church and that he felt really at this church...yes this was our church. I think this will be a great thing for his family. He will be setting an example for his family. They are from Sudan. Great kid, his cousin is being baptised on Saturday. So we are really excitted to see these things go forward. PRAY FOR US PLEASE. this is my last stretch, I will endure all the way through. The Lord has blessed me so much. I believe his still does even when times are rough, that can be a great blessing to know I can overcome through my faith in the Saviour. I love this mission, and I know its only 19 days away, I will go hard out, to use every minute of my missio more wiser to bless others and myself, that more glory may go to God. I love you all, Yours trully, Posted by: Elder Hettig Date: February 7, 2007
Hey Elder Hettig, Its hard to believe you'll be home soon. Happy to see you're going hard out and the experiences you're having are fruits of your faithfulness. We're meeting at the office tonight for a dedication to Nanny Hettig for the company Call Centre. Calling it "Nola's" Call Centre-Homesave. Uncle Aarons here from Australia and all my brothers will be there. When nanny Hettig died, the last thing she was doing was scanning the white pages phone book calling companies to sponsor our Tongan team to Tonga for that July 2002 tournament. She died in June, but she gave us the motivation to make sure we finished the project. So her last act in this life has inspired all of us to go out there and fulfill our dreams. This is really about just doing it I guess eh son. She never let weeds grown between her toes, she worked. Just like you're doing now son and I'm proud of your honourable mission. I got this saying from a friend in Las Vegas, "Ignorance on Fire is better than Knowledge on Ice...in other words, JUST DO IT!" Just like nanny, we just need to DO IT! huh and thats the example I feel will help all of us to enjoy those successes that you're enjoying right now son. Love you my son, and can't wait to hear your stories and experiences. Love Dad Posted by: Dad Date: February 7, 2007

Hey Hettig Family. Everything sounds great. Im doing fine here in the Great Australia Adelaide Mission. Me and Elder Rogers are working harder everyday. Its funny, he has killed off a couple of missionaries before me, he said they were trunky as. So thats a good sign for me to know Im not home sick already. thanks for the wonderful vision statement. I really do feel things is vision that is achievable. I'm thankful to have my family doing what is right. Hey I'd love to see syrenes new baby, try get her to come home again for abit. I dont have much else to say, other than I love you heaps. Im having the most amazing time of my life. We have spiritual experiences everyday. Lately we have had alot of people break down and cry in front of us. We don't mean to do that, but all I can say is the spirit is really. When we speak by the power of the Holy Ghost, its as if we are speaking by revelation. Filled with the spirit of prophecy and revelation, which is a testimony in Christ. I always think of things that I could say to my family and friends to help you to be in a spirit of continuous improvement. I would like you all to do something for the missionaries in the ward. Go and teach with them, feed them, give them some of your time, even more. I pray they will accept your offers, and you can feel happy and joyful for serving. Hear from you next week. Love you all....sincerely... Posted by: Elder Hettig Date: January 31, 2007

Aki is going back to CCNZ this weekend - registration. We got a letter from missionhome last week to say you are a district leader but no official letter about your departure details or dates, so i hope its in the mail. Cant believe 2yrs is nearly up - go hard to the end son. I love you. Posted by: mUM Date: January 31, 2007
Hey my son, so proud of your going hard out to the end. The Lord has really blessed you son. You've really been looked after eh son. We still haven't had any word about your release yet. Johnny returns from Korea the day before you're supposed to be coming home with mummy going out to be with Syrene for her baby's arrival the day after you arrive home. So its a go go go huh? Just keep going hard son, don't stop or think of home till you're done. Love you son
ps. heres our Family Vision Statement; "The Hettig Family is on this earth to prepare it and its people for the second coming of the Saviour. And to go throughout all the other lands to gather His scattered house, the House of Israel." Posted by: Dad Date: January 31, 2007
Hey family, this week was amazing. Im so excited to finish my mission with a bang. We are teaching another family from Africa. They come from Birundi. We found them while out finding only last week on Friday. One great thing is we actually have a member in the stake who is from Birundi. So teaching them has been great. Tonight we will be teaching them about Baptism. Im excitted to see some hearts touched and changed. I don't have all that long, but just a reminder to send that family vision statement through for me. I would love that heaps. I have my return date. Sadly enough it will be on the Tuesday 27th February. I think you have the details too. Yes im gonna work it till the end. I really am scared to come home. And very nervous. I don't know if its gonna be easy to leave all that I know. But ill worry about that latter. well i love you all. Will see you latter. yours trully... Posted by: Elder Hettig Date: January 24, 2007

Hey Im back, I had to get another computer...Yes I've been transfered. My new companion and last companion is Elder Rogers from Brisbane. Great missionary. Only been out for about 3 months. I have really loved our days so far. He is really a sincere and humble servant of the Lord. I am excitted to work hard here in Modbury, we really are making the most of it. My objective is to do exactly what we did in my last area. BAPTISE! yes we are working with the most elect people at the moment. Part member families. My comp is pumped about he progress that is taking place. Dad I had meet a Bro Grant Badger. He said he knew you from the mission. He would love to get some email addresses of all the friends he knew in NZ. Like uncle john wolframn, neha hakaraia, riki watene, and so on. Let me know there details and ill give it to him. He is very muchly strong in his testimony. I think it would be wonderful if you emailed him and bore testimony after all these years away from the mission field. I also have been working on my Life and Vision Statement. I would love for all of you to write a vision statement, and have one for the whole family. I will close my comments by enclosing my Vision Statement. "My name is Elder Hettig. I am called of God. Chosen and prepared before this world was. To of the Royal Army of Christ, My Lord. I am of the House of Israel, through the Tribe of Joseph, and his son Ephraim. I am of those covenant people that the Lord promised Abraham would carry the gospel to all peoples of the earth." My Vision statement helps me focus on who I REALLY am. I am a Disciple of Jesus Christ. When you write up your Vision Statement, try to remember it. And have it posted somewhere. I love you oh so dearly. The baptism was marvelous. Even one of the greatest days of my life. This one was counted in Heaven. I love that family. They are so strong. You should here there testimonies. Totally blew me away. The spirit is real and very strong when we are worth and wish to work hard for the Lord and focus on preparing people for baptism. I'll write next week and will send more of my love. Love you all...p.s. love you heaps Dunbar family...see you soon... Posted by: Elder Hettig Date: January 17, 2007

Its Elder Hettig again, just drop a quick line again. We always seem to have not much time to email. Well, we have a baptism this saturday, of the Busasa Family. Martin and Suzana are really excitted, and they do have a strong testimony of the restored gospel. Their son Biefe will also be baptised with them. They are from Congo in Africa. They love church, only have been in Australia for a little over 2 months now. It has been a blessing to us and them to find them and teach them. I'm so blessed to be apart of their lives. I will tell you the experience I had with the Busasa Family and how we found them. This is a letter I wrote to President Quinn 2 weeks ago. "Being here in Parafield Gardens has been a challenge. There is not much going on here. But as I forever find, I feel God is blessing us every moment. I have had those experiences that when I should stop and talk, I should stop and talk. So I did. I had this experience with the family we are teaching. Martin Busasa(Father), I was riding down the main road, as I saw him, he was a humble, very gentle looking fella, I knew I could teach him. Because we had bearly left our flat, I had a little lollie in my mouth. The spirit whispered to me, "Spit it out Now!" So I did. I stopped him and taught him with faith and power. Blow me down, he as a new person to the country, he had been looking for a church to join. As we presented the message to him, he asked why is this message in his country in Congo, Africa. We said, we didn't know, but we expressed that God had sent his family h ere to this free land to receive the restored gospel right now. I love to serve, I will always serve. I Love the Lord."
I love to do this work. Never have I been so happy. Never have I been more challenged. Never have I been more satisfied. Never have I experienced more of a broken heart for the salvation of souls. Never have I felt so in love with anything, this is my work to do the Lords work.In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen...love, Posted by: Elder Hettig Date: January 10, 2007
We had a great road trip with all the family to Rotorua, Hamilton and Kawhia. We really need some missionary work done in Rotorua amongst the natives there. They're big time in stealing by the looks of it. Its very sad for the tourist industry and our country to have this sad indictment on ourselves. Poor McKenzie had her bag stolen as well with her money in it along with her expensive mobile phone etc. We carried on regardless, although it could have put a dampner on the whole trip we decided to not let it get us down. We enjoyed the rest of the journey as a result. We're heading down to Rotorua again this Sunday for a Wananga with Herewini at a local marae there. Taking some less actives and non members with us. Then doing some business there in Rotorua as well. Keep going for it son. Its exciting to see your successes. Love you for your great service and efforts, its blessing all of us. Love you son.

Road trip huh! that sounds good...we don't really get to have road trips in the mission field. Only if you are going out country. But pretty much we get straight to work. Thats what I love about my mission, we are really centered on our mission for there is alot of things to be accomplished. I really would like to write more but, my time is needed else where. I need to write to President Quinn. So stay strong, I'll be thinking of you all, well kind of. I need all the prayers we can get. Heavenly Father is blessing us in this mission. Next Saturday we are having a baptism of the Busasa Family. They are from Congo, and the parents, Martin and Susan, and Biefe the son, will all be baptised and will receive these saving ordinances. Hey son, just preparing to head off to Rotorua. Picking up Tim Mills from airport then off. We'll be in Kawhia on Friday night and spending the weekend there after the Temple. Taking McKenzie with us to enjoy a bit of New Zealand scenery. Hey, how is Kaea. Thats something else meeting up with his family there huh. Give them our regards too. I can't think of his name off hand, but he served with you in Aidelaide and just come home. His family had Christmas Day with us and they're originally from England now living here. They're friends of Aunty Marisa. His dad served in Scotland on a mission with Aunty Marisa. His dad is a lawyer and does prosecution work. I think you may have mentioned his name to me on Christmas Day call. Then they appeared that day at Christmas Dinner. We're having a few wananga's here with Herewini shortly before he heads off to Rarotonga for a series there. Then he's off to SLC after that. Hope you're working hard out still son. This is the best time of your mission. Keep going for it son. Proud of your faithfulness and continue to pray for your success with the good people of Aidelaide. Hey Son, Sorry we didn't get in touch with Elder Pack's family before we left. We didnt get your message till we got home in fact. We'll be up there again soon, so we'll see them then. Everyone is doing good. All the boys are working. We have McKenzie staying with us at the moment. Shes my old companion Elder Farnsworths niece. We all went to the Markovina Vineyards wind up christmas party last night and she along with all the teenagers in our house came along. They had a ball. We're really enjoying the time here at home. Mummy couldn't wait to get back home actually. Nothing beats your home at the end of the day eh. Lots of exciting things happening in the new year too son. Syrenes new baby, your homecoming, Johnny's return from Korea and our 30th wedding anniversary. Its all go eh. Baron is doing really good too. He'll really enjoy your input into his life when you get back to help him prepare for his mission. His attitude is awesome actually. So is Aki's. Diederich is too and working very hard putting in the hours. I can see lots of wedding bells in the not too distant future. We're looking forward to your call on Christmas day. Uncle D and Aunty Anna are leaving for Gold Coast on Christmas day and probably staying with Uncle Aaron. Then they'll be going to Melbourne to spend some time with Syrene. We're having BBQ with them tonight. Then they're off to Tokoroa for Killarney's wedding on Saturday. Then they're up to Whangarei for Patricks baby's unveiling the next day. Then off to Australia. Theyre all go eh. Did you get your dickies yet? You should have got your parcel etc by Christmas day and we'll talk some more on that day. Very proud of you son, keep going hard. Kia kaha. Wazup bro! So this maybe your last area I guess? Go hard bro! You've got so much love for people, that's just so awesome. Well, I've been quite busy the last few days with the Missionaries here in Korea. Yesterday I spent the whole day with them proselyting in their area, and we had the most amazing experiences you wouldn’t believe! Well, to start with, I'm just hangin' round the missionaries cuz it's a fast way to learn Korean aye, but it's way cool cuz I've been learning through the spirit things that would take me months to learn at Uni. Well, the Missionaries taught me a few key phrases to say at the door, and long story short, I knocked into a golden investigator who has been waiting for us, and this lady is so sweet! She's just so ready to learn the Gospel. While the missionaries were bearing their testimonies to her, I was like listening fervently to their words with tears in my eyes understanding through the spirit the words being said. I shared my feelings also. Then today after church, I went out with them to visit a new investigator family that are just absolutely awesome as well! They're totally ready, the Mom, Dad & son. The Dad had lived in Auckland for a year, so we were having a good old chat. Then later this evening I went with the missionaries to watch the First Presidency Christmas Devotional and what beautiful messages were given. President James E. Faust spoke on anonymous acts of kindness, doing unto others that they can't do for themselves. President Thomas S. Monson spoke on the spirit of Christmas, that we should not spend it, but honor it in our hearts. Then President Gordon B. Hinckley spoke on the true meaning of Christmas, the shining light of the Savior Jesus Christ. It was truly uplifting. Then later this evening we went and visited an investigator couple who were so incredible. It was the second time the missionaries had visited with them and they were already so warmed up to the Gospel. It's truly been an awesome weekend doing missionary work. Well you know what? this'll be me every weekend from now on till I go home! Hey, sorry bro 4 yabbing on too long, I just wanna let you know that I love you and that I'm so proud of you, and it's gonna be a wonderful reunion when we all meet again in Feb. Till then bro, keep talking to people and doing your thang! You're a natural born missionary. Love ya bro...I’ll be in touch again soon. :) Posted by: JOHNNYMANA Date: December 10, 2006

gidday brotha! sounds like your busy busy busy and sweaty sweaty sweaty..sure have been seeing some scorcher days, bush fire season..australia having to request firefighting help from NZ, which should be interesting as NZ'land firefighters id assume have no experience in fighting bush fire..but yeah, we are facing a huge drought here..water is as precious as gold. im guessing its almost monsoon weather up there in the NT, ill be praying for some of that rain to pass through the rest of the country...speaking of countrIES .. apparently there is some discussion about making NZ another state of australia. and thats pretty much the end of that discussion. hahaaha. good ol' helen clark chuckled at the prospect - i rolled my eyes when i heard. dont know if you heard also about the tongan riots in nukulofa? it all seems to have subsided, but the effects of the damage both pysically and spritually im sure will be lasting...fiji is also going through a military coup at the moment too..all these islands in our pacific are feeling the brunt of political warfare which in turn effects the people and general productivity. i cant see anything worse than angry coconuts. we are looking at very tough times...all over the world. people fighting people. nature fighting people. people fighting nature. i cant help but wonder if this imbalance can be fixed with a unified goal of planetary pray....so now ive given you a brief world news update, i suppose this all aligns with my pregnancy. they say pregancy brings 'absentmindedness'..ive never been more conscious. having a baby in these times has required me to think beyond myself and my own ideals, but that now of a child who has simple needs. i have already this undying desire to be protective in all manner of speaking. the influences of this world are so penetrating, and consumerism is at large its almost sickening..there is great definition between need and want. or should that be need and greed? people now are far to informed to be so ignorant, it must be a choice to be so ignorant im thinking... so anyway, thinking thinking thinking..im always thinking..lil' ol pregnant me..well shouldnt say lil', i got a great big belly. feeling very heavy, and tired and excited, feeling aching bones i never knew could ache..just FEELING alot in general. andy and i are preparing, the doggies know something big is about to happen..theyre on theyre last legs, getting old. only a few more years in these faithful animals. the expression 'its a dogs life', i think it mostly reflects just how short life is...just finished an almsot 2 month run in the studio, recording an album im still not happy with. its due for release next june, got the time to amend. i guess the main problem for me is relevancy. when i write, is it that relevant?..what im writing? what am i saying? so the whole process of questioning myself is a battle all the time, but it gives me the strangest sense of contentment i dont think id like it any other way...ANYWAY i think ive rattled on long enough..cant wait to see you next year brotha..love you ..take care talk soon. Well, there ya go bro. Hope all is well there. I had a nice day at church this morning. It was fasting testimony meeting, and I really felt the spirit quite srongly. For a moment, I felt I understood Korean completely for a whole 2 minutes, but then after that it kinda went away. It feels like being on a mission again. A few weeks ago I was teaching a Korean guy English aye, and then he went to Australia. His name is Brad. Well, before he left, I went to dinner with him and his wife. A lovely couple. Well anyway, as I was talking to him back then, he mentioned that he wanted to start a new life, and migrate to Oz, start his family there, and join a church(coz he doesn't have any religion. Well, I didn't think much of it at the time, but it just hit me today, and I've got his number & details, and will go visit his wife who is still here in Korea with the missionaries this week. So that's kinda my exciting news for this week. I'll keep ya update. Even though I can't speak Korea very well, it doesn't stop me from doing a bit of missionary work. It's the spirit that counts huh. Hey do you know your finish date? coz I'm gonna return home same time az ya. Let me know if u do, if not, that's ok. Well bro, Love ya heaps and I'll post ya again soon. SIONE Posted by: JOHNNYMANA Date: December 3, 2006
P.S. Hey Johnny, I need you to send that testimony in Thai ASAP. Thanks bro... Posted by: Elder Hettig Date: November 29, 2006
Hey my family, great to hear that SLC is snowy, cos right now in Adelaide it is 38 nearly 40 degrees. Im sweating my pants off. But its alright, we are really having alot of successs this week. We taught 12 first lessons already, with 12 new investigators. Thats a first for me. We are going all out. This is the last week before transfers, but Im not worried, ill still go all out...Hey when you write me again, let me know where these people are serving like Jarom, Corrie etc...They are all just growing up fast. Hows everything at home. Send me some pics, that would be great to see. Hey mum + dad, before you leave SLC, I would love it if you could go to Provo and visit my mission president, President Strong. He is in the Adminstration building. He has a email: strongfam11@yahoo.com, tell them hi from me. Maybe you could find out if you can get me some BYU information. My new mission president, President Quinn said he could get me a scholarship for the business school. But I'd like to know more. Maybe President Strong can fill you in on some info. OH yeah mum, you'll love Sister Strong, she was so good to me especially with my teeth accident. And yeah if the white pants are on the way, Thanks for that, Im really in need of them soon. Well nothing else to say, but I love you, take care, give my love to everyone there I know.seeya Posted by: Elder Hettig Date: November 29, 2006
Hey son, just at the office of my friends here and finishing off some business. Its beautiful snowy white outside. SLC is beautiful in winter. Its sun shining even though its cold. I had a haircut yesterday and the hairdresser was an old missionary from the 50's in NZ. He still has the old Maori memorabilia. He baptised a friend of mine who are stalwarts in the church. A very small world. We're looking forward to going back to NZ especially mummy. I think shes missing her family. I do to, but I'm more occupied here than mummy is. She's normally very busy at home and she does'nt have much to do here at all. She'll be right back into her elements when she gets back. I heard Elder Maiava is in MTC here at the moment. Probably the class after Sister Atkins. Exciting stuff hearing and seeing all our kids serving. I'm excited about all your good work son and look forward to your experiences. This is a wonderful time for you son and I'm so proud of your good work. Keep going hard son, and lots of love. Dad

HI SON, ITS FREEZING HERE, LOTS OF SNOW FALLING RIGHT NOW, LOOKS PRETTY WHEN YOU ARE INDOORS LOOKING OUT.NOT LONG FOR US TO GO NOW,ABOUT 2 WKS AND WE ARE HOME, UNCLE STEVE ARRIVES TOMORROW IN SLC I THINK,MISSING MY HOUSE AND MY BOYS BELIEVE OR NOT. THIS HAS BEEN A GOOD TRIP FOR DAD, HE HAS ACCOMPLISHED ALOT BUT STILL HAS HEAPS TO DO, I READ SOMETHING IN THE NOVEMBER ENSIGN, ELDER FAUSTS TALK AT OCT CONFERENCE WHICH REALLY STRUCK ME, HE TALKS ABOUT THE DEFINITION OF DISCIPLE AND HOW DISCIPLESHIP MEANS OBEDIENCE TO THE SAVIOUR, WHICH INCLUDES MANY THINGS, TITHING, FHE,KEEPING COMMANDMENTS,TEMPLE ATTENDACE & FULFILLING CALLINGS,HOMETEACH &V/TEACHING, MISSIONARY WORK ETC - THE SCRIPTURE THAT REINFORCED THIS THOUGHT WAS...IF ANY MAN WILL COME AFTR ME, LET HIM DENY HIMSELF, AND TAKE UP HIS CROSS DAILY, AND FOLLOW ME...AND WHOSOEVER DOTHNOT BEAR HIS CROSS, AND COME AFTER ME,CANNOT BE MY DISCIPLE.." I GUESS THIS MEANS THAT IF WE EMULATE JESUS CHRISTS EXAMPLE BY DOING GOOD EVERYDAY, BEING A GOOD SHEPHERD (WATCHING OVER LESS ACTIVES), BEARING WITNESS OF HIS DIVINE PLAN,, HAVING COMPASSION ON POOR AND NEEDY, BEARING EACH OTHERS BURDENS, BUT MOST OF ALL SHOWING UNCONDITIONAL LOVE FOR ALL, THE LIST OF THINGS WE AN DO IS ENDLESS, AND I KNOW SOME OF US HERE AT HOME SOMETIMES FALL SHORT OF OUR DISCIPLESHIP AS TRUE FOLLOWERS OF CHRIST, EVRYTIME DAD SHOWS THE "MASSEY WARD MISSIONARY " DVD I ALWAYS HAVE A LITTLE CRY TO MYSELF, I CANT HELP IT COS I KNOW THAT YOUR SERVICE TO YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT TIMES OF YOUR LIFE AND HE WILL BLESS YOU. AS YOUR MOTHER I AM COMFORTED TO KNOW THAT YOU HAVE A STRONG UNWAIVERING TESTIMONY OF THE ONLY TRUE RESTORED GOSPEL ON THIS EARTH. I ONLY WISH THAT YOUR ENCOURAGING INFLUENCE MAY GIVE YOUR YOUNGER BROTHERS THE REAL DESIRE TO SERVE ALSO. I LOVE YOU HEAPS. BYE FOR NOW. Posted by: MUM Date: November 29, 2006
Hey Elder, good to read ur words, it's really uplifting. As I was talking with the missionaries today at church in Bangkok, I couldn't help but think about ya. Thank you bro for your example. Well, I've been in Bangkok for the last 3 days & waiting @ the airport 4 my plane 2 depart. While here, I was able 2 visit many close friends, Sombat etc.. and they're good. Sombat is still an eternal investigator, but I know that he'll come around in the right time. They're practically family 2 me. I'll post some pics up for you when I get back 2 Seoul. Well, Go hard bro, I'll go hard too studying Korean & Chinese. Luv ya bro, I'll post some more news soon. Your bro, SIONE Posted by: JOHNNYMANA Date: November 26, 2006
Hey all, its great to hear from you. Im doing really good. THanks for the CD's, i like them. Well alots been going on, we have been trying to find new people to teach. I can't spend too long, but in case you didn't know, I love being a missionary. I would do it all over again. My time is drawing near but i will always go hard out from here on out. My comp is so powerful, tell his parents he has set a new standard in this mission. Im always in awe whenever we go and teach people. He is full of confidence. His spirit shines. I see great success already coming from him. We have had 3 baptisms already, Peter was baptised on Saturday, and Kig and Ying were baptised the week before. We are working with a few more, but still early days for them. We need miracle here. I know they can happen because Ive seen them happen. I love you all and Ill talk more next week. Love you... hi son, sorry i missed you last week, i forgot that we were a day behind here. dad and i have been here 5 wks this week, just 2 and 1/2 wks to go then home. we have so many invitations for thanksgiving dinner on thursday its not funny, so i said to lori, i think we should fast tomorrow to make up for all the dinners we will eat on thursday. we went with dad for a ride to sth ogden today to see their american lawyer about their US contracts here, its like driving to hamilton, but was a nice ride. tomorrow we are goingto slc airport to see suzie watts daughter off, her name is mckenzie, she is going to stay at our place, she is 16ys old and i guess willbe having a real kiwi experience and also a warm xmas for a change, she lives in mountainhome, where we were visiting in jan this year do you remember we told you about our visit there with all our friends, was a wonderful experience for everyone, mckenzies grandparents and family were so hospitable to us and spoilt us rotten when we were there, so we are hoping she will enjoy her time with us in nz. its been a long day and i have been talking to the boys tonite at home, seems like they are having a big clean up iwonder why? gotta go love you, happy thanksgiving. Hey Elder Hettig, Just got back from Ogden with our lawyers. While in Ogden I looked up an old family friend from home who is married to an American and been here for 30 years. I hadn't seen her since my mission. She got a fright to see us. I used to be tall dark and handsome, now I'm tall fat and handsome. I dropped mummy and loreal there while I spent an hour and half with the lawyer. Mummy had a good visit and caught up with all the news. We went to church with your companions family on Sunday gone. Elley really loves Elder Krolls little sister Gracie and spent a night with her the other night. They're a lovely family, really down to earth good folk. Elder Krolls younger brother at Bingham High won the football finals. He plays with a bunch of Tongan boys who are all in the Tongan ward here. There's three stakes of Tongans in SLC and theres one up in San Fransisco as well. I see Tongans everywhere, mainly at the buffet restaurants like Chuckarama's, Golden Corral, Asian Buffet, Hometown, KFC and the list goes on. I'm very proud of your losing a lot of weight son. All that tracting is paying off eh son.I'll be pretty skinny when you get back home as well. Well, pretty anyway ha! Did Johnny get his testimony to you in Thai. If not, it would still be a great idea for him to dialogue with your Thai converts huh? Terrence Atkins just left for LA and returns home on Friday. He had a great time here. He visited the BYU students that came out to the YSA ward last year. They took him to the BYU Cougars Football game and BYU won it qualifying them for the Bowl Playoff. Its a big first in a long while for BYU. Terrence really enjoyed it and the culture of the supporters there. Its a big deal. Herewini has had a big part in the motivation of the team and I understand they do the haka before every game as well. We've been invited to a whole bunch of homes for Thanksgiving this Thursday 23rd. This is also a big deal here. Its quite a treat to be invited out for Thanksgiving. Temple Square has all of its Christmas lights put up during this time as well. Its gonna be a treat for us to see. We'll take some photos of it. Tons of homes are starting to put the Christmas lights up now and they're mighty pretty. We've had quite a treat seeing all the major events of this country. Loreal got to go trick and treating during Halloween here last month and collected tons of lollies and chocolates. Its been a ball actually having loreal and mummy here with me. It was quite lonely being here on my own in the past. Its hard to believe that we've coming and going from here since you started your mission. I'm sure the Lords blessing us here for the good work you're doing son. Thankyou for being obedient son and making our job easy as parents. I know you're gonna be a great example for your younger brothers to follow. Keep up the good work son. Mummy has got some of the things you've asked for and you may have already got your music cd. Take care my son and endure to the end. Love you son, Dad. Posted by: Dad Date: November 21, 2006
p.s. Mum I may need those white pants really soon, I have grown out of my ones quite alot, which is good. And I imagine alot more baptisms performed before I go home. So send that stuff ASAP, and give my love to the Kroll family. and tell me where Corrie is serving. Oh yeah tell syrene, or if you read this syrene, Id love to get some of your recordings of all your church songs, how many do you have? Put them on CD for me, I love listening to my sister sing the songs of Zion, it cheers me up. Not home sick though. Love ya'll Posted by: Elder Hettig Date: November 15, 2006
HELLO WHANO! hey uncle d, great to hear from ya, im loving my mission. Yep not long to go, but im not thinking about that yet. We have been working hard in Glenelg. We had the baptism and confirmation of Kig and Ying Rojanawattanawut, mother and daugther. They are Thai. The baptism was spirit filled, so was the confirmation. I can trully say that we were lead by God to them to teach them the truth. They are so strong in the faith, they are so filled with love. We are in the process of teaching the rest of their family. Tong and Tae, the father and son are next to be baptised. Soon hopefully. While I'm here. I am so happy when I see people realise that there is restored truth, they start to glow and see much more than they could ever before. This work is the greatest Ive ever done in my whole life and it will continue to be apart of me. It always has been an interest of mine ever since I was a deacon growing up in the youth program. I pleaded to go to young mens activities with my brothers, but I was too young. I finally got there, what a blessing it was to experience and catch the vision of missionary work at such a young age. I loved the times with the missionaries teaching people, and seeing them change, seeing them love the the church, watching the members loving them into the church. No force or control about it at all. ALL LOVE! No greater team have I been in will be better than this one Im in right now. The Lords team. We are teaching a guy named Peter Salzmann, he will be baptised on Saturday 18th November. Im so excited for him. He really has made some life decisions in his life. Ive seen them. The past week was a trial week for him, he prayed his hardest to know what to do with his life. He came to the conclusion he must remove all things that a not of God. He applied Moroni 10:30, what a privilage it was to see such dramatic changes. He has been talking about going on a mission this time next year. How good will that make me feel, I'll just be filled with everlasting joy. I love the work as you can see. Ive applied D+c 121:33-46 to help me purify my motives and be endowed with power. Great feelings come to me everytime I think of the blessings. I love you all. Please stay safe, I do miss you but I do wish for of you to keep doing what the Lord would want us to do. Baron, for you is to prepare yourself all you can to go on a mission, read the Book of Mormon everyday, get a testimony of it, that testimony will get you through the tough bumps in the road that a missionary goes through. If I didn't have a testimony of Christ, I would still not be here, I would have been back home wallowing in my lack of effort, not living in the active state Lehi speaks about in 2 Nephi 2, I would not have had all of these experiences that I cherish now. I would not have experienced this at home. I had to work through that trial of my faith in Christ, I will always remember the strength from recieving sound understanding to all my lifes questions and concerns. Repent is one all must do and realise. Let the Atonement take place in your personal life. "Do it right, do it right now!" I love you all, again, and keep strong always... Love your Elder in Lord Posted by: Elder Hettig Date: November 15, 2006

Hison,as you can read we picked up Sis atkins from the aiport in a stretch limo dad arranged with his friend and had a nice meal with them at chuckaramas. Elder Hettig,
Kiaora bro, How's it going? I don't know if you remember me but I served in New Zealand 2002-2004. Massey was my first area. I was there around the time that Sister Nola Hettig passed away.
Anyway, I live here in Utah and was just visiting with your parents. Sister Atkins enters the MTC tomorrow... so that's choice! Another servant of God! They told me you were serving and I just thought I'd say hi.
Enjoy your mission Elder and work hard! Time flys fast and you don't want to waste a second. The church is true and the Lord loves and blesses His missionaries!
Stay strong bro and I wish you all the best.
'ofa atu,
Travis Outly

Hey Elder Hettig! Just with your parents in Utah the night before I enter MTC here in Provo... Yes, I've made it, I'm finally a sistah missionary! Woohoo. It feels so great to be able to finally hit the nail on the head and to put everything I've learnt into practical hard labour! Well Elder, I hear good things are happening for you. Kia kaha, lengthen your stride, work like there's no tomorrow! All the best till next time! Posted by: Sister Atkins Date: November 6, 2006

Hey son, we're here in Herriman Utah at the moment and settling into this beautiful house owned by a friend. Its about half an hour away from SLC. We attended the premiere movie called Number 2 in Sugarhouse SLC the other night and there were heaps of kiwis there. It was a funny movie. Had all soughts of family and friends come over to greet us there. Loreal enjoyed the Halloween day yesterday and went with the Wolfgramms kids trick and treating. She had a ball. Marko came with mum and I with friends to a haunted house night at the Brigham Young "This is the Place" spot. That was good fun. We took Mark down to the Temple Square on Sunday and saw the Legacy and prior to that watched the Tabernacle Choir sing in the Spoken Word. It was awesome. Spoke to Johnny today and told him to write you today. Hope he gets to you soon so he can post his testimony for your Thai friends. Its getting quite cold here in SLC now and I just love the many things we can do here in America to building the Kingdom. Keep up the good work my son. You are a great missionary. Love Dad Posted by: Dad Date: November 1, 2006
P.S. Can you also send me some NZ t-shirts, for my comps and also tell Johnny to please email me with his testimony in Thai, I need it for my investigator's Kig + Ying. Posted by: Elder Hettig Date: October 25, 2006
Hey everybody! Great to hear from ya\\\'ll...thanks for the emails i really do appreciate the love shown through this electronic mail. It sounds fun over there in SLC, i may have to visit one day. To answer mums question, I would like to get some white pants(dickies) size 42, if you can a white belt, im losing weight so i need these things for the temple. Also, a music CD called \\\"EFY 2006\\\" Ask someone at deseret bookstore. And some t-shirts, shorts, and whatever. Don\\\'t worry about chocolate, ive had to give it up to lose a few kg\\\'s. But i think thats it. Well the area im in at the moment is doing really well, its a place of miracles. I\\\'m still in Glenelg, my new companion is Elder Kroll from Salt Lake City, Utah. Here is his address: Debbie and Gary Kroll. South Jordan 1st Ward. 2252 west bonanza ct. South Jordan, Utah. PH:(801)254-1610. It would be great to go and see them while your there. My comp told me they would appreciate that. He\\\'s a solid missionary, has alot of confidence, he is one of the stand out ones. I see great things from this missionary. When I meet him I saw a man that is full of humility. I promise you my family, I am not slacking off, I have before, but I don\\\'t want the guilt that comes from being apostate. \\\"The honest truth is I just want to be faithful, hardworking, full of charity, successful, spirit filled, sound in the doctrine, firm, steadfast and immovable. Never to give up, but to endure to the end.\\\" Now what I have been doing about this is I\\\'ve written a life statement, stewardship statement, vision statement, and I continue to work on it everyday. Now I\\\'m still trying to master my scriptures, so I\\\'ve committed myself to remember one scripture a day. Today\\\'s is ALMA 8:10. A powerful scripture, one I apply even right now as I write these words. I desire to do all I can to play my part in our companionship, by being exactly obedient, going about doing good always. I have a strong testimony of repentance, this process is all about changing my life to be in harmony with the commandments of God and at one with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I am Elder Hettig, I am of the Tribe of Ephraim, the son of Joseph, who was to save the House of Israel from their modern day famine in this world of confusion. Joseph are to gather them in, to bring them to Christ, to secure Zion amongst Babylon. This is the elect, and I know at this very moment Heavenly Father is entrusted us to teach his elect and to introduce them to the waters of Baptism and even Baptism by fire and by the Holy Ghost. I love you all, I will promise all of you that if you endure to the end (simply read the scriptures daily, pray daily, attend church meetings and be actively involved in ward events and assignments) you will see a great drive for happiness, you will feel a deeper concern for yourself and other\\\'s eternal welfare. I love you too much I can\\\'t describe it. Till next week, Yours Sincerely, Posted by: Elder Hettig Date: October 25, 2006

Hey Son, just a quick note to say we\'re in US now. We spent the first three days in San Fransisco working on our company website with Danny(Elder) Dura. We stayed with him and his wife at their home right in the city. Their house is one of those really quaint old houses that are built hard against the walls of each other. Amazing. We went to Church with them in Bay Ward and then went to visit Anna\'s family before heading out to Utah. We drove the whole distance, about 12 hours through the back of Reno, Nevada and the deserts of Utah. An amazing trip. Loreal slept the whole way. We sang songs including many hymns and talked about the Church with my business partner Mark. We were pretty tired by the end of that journey. We\'re now in Salt Lake City at the Wolfgramms home and we\'re heading to Ogden tommorrow for a busines meeting. There is so much happening right now and I\'m enjoying the weather and mummy and Loreal with me this trip. Only Diederich, Baron are home with Uncle Stephen and his kids. Elley is at uncle Dions till we come back. Theres lots of exciting things looming on the horizon. Just keep up the good work son and work hard out right through this eve part of your mission for the Lord. Love you my son and proud of your good efforts heart. Love dad. Hey all! Im doing well, its great to hear you are too. I was advised by my mission president that I shouldn't meet up with Darren, mainly to stay focussed on my purpose as a representive of the Lord. I know I have grown throughout this past week, Ive seen peoples hearts change, Ive experienced hard work, and in result, hearts were softened and homes were opened. I focus on Christ in my thoughts, deeds, words and all things even all places and at all times. Staying constant in Christ has filled me with love and the Spirit Of God. I thank you for all your constant support, I was saying to my companion that 1 out of 4 missionaries go less-active, why? no testimony. We also talked and I mentioned that the final test of my testimony would be when I'm back home. I don't want to deny my feelings, my knowledge, my spiritual experiences. Ive realised that I must continue in Christ, never to stray away, even when I come home, Study the scriptures every day will be vital, daily prayer, church attendance and activity in all the different events and activities in the church organisation. I believe I can do it, I will soon know, I don't have long, but I know that the Lord will help me through all I do. I must go, but I will thank you for all your love and sacrifice, thanks for the packages mum, tell Darren thanks also, I'll see you in a few months. Luv you...p.s Dad if you could get me those white pants I needed(dickies)I think size 42, and also a music CD from deseret book store: EFY 2006. I would love it alot, and my comp likes american chocolate I do too...thanks dad & mum. Posted by: Elder Hettig Date: October 11, 2006
Hey son, just a quick note to let you know we're very excited about your progress and to keep it up son. Hope you got the package from Darren. He went over on his own and wasn't able to catch up with you. He stayed at a backpacker hostel in town somewhere. He had a good time and is going back again soon but we won't be here. We're leaving next Friday for US via San Fransisco, SLC and will be attending seminars and stuff in Arizona, SLC and Las Vegas. We're meeting up with Danny Dura on the first couple of days we get there to work out our Website and your uncles here have done all the design work. It looks great. So we'll be all go until the end of the year and then be back for preparations for you homecoming. February next year is an exciting time for our family with you coming home, Syrene having our first mokopona, Baron due to depart for his mission and mummy and I 30 years wedding anniversary. Looking forward some exciting things huh? Anyway, keep going hard son and we keep praying for your success. Love Dad Posted by: Dad Date: October 11, 2006

Hey there, well im sure the Dunbars will enjoy Adelaide, its getting into summer, the hot weather is coming really soon. I remember last year, i was one sweaty Elder! I don't have long, but i am thankful for all your words of love and encouragemet, i will never forget them, i keep them sacred to me. I love the Lord, i just want to serve Him, there are others that need Him in their lives too. I can tell you this much that we have great cause to rejoice even though we may not have much good respones. In Alma 8 it tells us of Alma and his mission in Ammonhah. They were wicked people, hated him and kicked him out of the City, but as he was walking away, the Lord sent an angel to him again, this angel was the same angel which visitted him the first time, the angel told Alma to lift up his head and rejoice, why? Because he had kept the commandments of God since he first time he was commanded. The angel, told hinm to go back into the city and teach repentance again. So he did. I will liken this story unto me, we tract alot, we talk to everyone, sometimes we seem as if anoying, but we have not much success, Why? Beacause the Lord sends His prepared people to His prepared servants, i have witnessed that within this transfer, we are teaching 2 families, they are one of the greatest privilages in my life, never would i have thought, i would be teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ to families, this is a blessing, i pray that the Lord will bless me in this work with His people. I love you all, and will keep in touch. Love you heaps...p.s, tell Johnny to email me soon. Posted by: Elder Hettig Date: October 4, 2006

Hey son, its been all go here and as we're preparing for our next trip to US, theres so much to do. Elley has already left for Melbourne and is with Syrene right now. Everyone is excited about Syrene's upcoming baby. Aki is home for the holidays and you'll be surprised when see him next. He's very tall now. Not the short tubby guy he used to be. Hows the work son. Hope you're going hard out there in your new area. This last part of your mission is the most important part to work even harder than before. The enthusiasm you have had plus, will carry on for the rest of your life in your desire to serve God. The Dunbars are coming over to Adelaide next month, so we're going to give them the dvd's and bits and pieces for you. The business is really moving along fast. We meet with some of our American business associates on Monday just gone and they're all excited about our coming there next month. The Lord has really paved the way for us to come to America with our project. However, we are still New Zealand based. We won't be taking our records or citizenship away from here. Hey! Adney is back here now. We haven't seen him yet, but he went back to Brisbane to be released and then returned here. Staying with the Paki's. He served a great mission we heard. We've got the Stake basketball tourney this weekend, so he'll be a big help to the Elders Team for us. Herewini and I went to do a presentation to a young couple on Tuesday night. The Book of Mormon really is the key to conversion for everyone eh son. Its the most powerful book there is on earth and will bring more souls unto Christ than any other instrument we have barring the spirit. Getting people to commit to reading the Book of Mormon is a chore, but a certain guarantee once they've committed. Continue to work hard son. I love you my son. Kia kaha son. Love Dad. Hey son, sorry for the lack of mail last week. We had a Homesave Boot Camp last week training our good people in preparation for the work. It was a very busy week. Herewini came up for the week of business including some wananga's with our folks in the ward. We had a wonderful experience last week. Fred, Morehu's husband lost his brother Edgar. They took his body back to Taumaranui. Their whole whanau came over and they asked if I could conduct all their services before they left. We taught several discussions in that service as I got Elder Stanton and Elder Asi to speak with me. This was Elder Stanton's last act of service before he left with his folks for Montana, USA. He really worked hard in our area and left lots of seeds. Following this tangi, Herewini gave the whole family a wananga in the house to about 25-30 people. They were really responsive and the kids were amazingly reverent. They really felt the spirit. They were all nonmembers. While singing one of our hymns in the service,we observed a lady singing comfortably along with us and she was crying. I followed up with her later and found out she was a less active member of more than 30 years. There were heaps of other nonmembers and opportunities just opened like crazy. Freds nephew, Micheal, the one who has had a massive heart transplant and should've died 3 years ago has had his life spared. We asked the Lord to spare him so he can be taught the gospel and the Lord obliged. He is getting baptised on 7 October. We'll be holding off our USA trip till this is done. We also have a couple other brothers getting baptised in a couple of weeks and next months respectively as well. The missionaries are teaching about 11 families at the moment and they're really getting blessed with new people to teach from their tracting. Mummy had her 50th birthday yesterday. Syrene organised her a right royal treatment for the whole day here in Nor West Auckland. We went to stay out at Bethells beach Cottages. Its owned by the 5th generation Bethell who the beach and area is named after. Wow! what a view and what a treat. Mummy deserves it. She's a real trooper and does so much as a mother and wife to her family. Syrene is a gem. She knows how to spoil her mum. She knows what buttons to press for her thats for sure. But the greatest present we got from Syrene was that she's having our very first moko in February next year. We're very excited about it. Syrene was hanging out about telling us until she knew it was for sure. There were tears as Loreal was reading the letter from Syrene. Mummy choked while trying to read it so she had to get Lorry to read it for her. I hope you're enjoying your new area son. Hope you're having success in your good works. I imagine the NT was pretty tough to crack huh? But as long as you put in your best effort, the rewards will come. Business is growing and we're excited about the things eventuating in the States. We'll keep you posted and will make sure to get a parcel to you soon. Love you son. Dad. Posted by: Dad Date: September 20, 2006

Guday! im doin well, is see no emails so i take it your all busy...hows everything goin anyways...? Ive been transfered to the CITY, Glenelg, a lovely place, where the beach is...we have some great investigators...a couple promissing...my new companion is Elder Plowman from Seatle, Washington, US of A...he's a very enthusiasic missionary, full of the spirit...we are working very hard in this area, and i think there will be many great things ahead of us...we will be teaching an english class tonight, so im very nervous about that...heaps of Chinese in our area. Family i love you, continue to love each other...and keep working hard...hey and if you could visit my old mission president, President Strong, in Provo, that would be awsome, ill see if i can get his email...one of these days ill see him over there. Well, not much to say, if you can, get me some white dickies pants, and ill be good, oh and please find a CD for me, titled : EFY 2006...deseret book store should have it...thanks heaps ill catch up next week...yours trully, Posted by: Elder Hettig Date: September 13, 2006
hey there my Family and friends, its great to hear from you all, last week i was in Darwin for Zone conference, and yes is was very busy...we had a great week last week, Fireside as soon as we arrived in Darwin, i had to sing a song, the pianist didn't have music so i gave her mine, and that meant that i didn't have music, so i quickly remembered the song and words and just went up and did it on the spot, it was fun, and very interesting, but came out well, No mistakes funnly enough! then after a great fireside, we got ready for the next day for Zone Conference. One of the Greatest conferences ive ever been apart of, never have i felt greater power in my whole life, i thought i had feld the spirit really strong, but this was an indescrible amount of spirit felt moment. I was filled with new light, never to be forgotten, and that light i continue to let it remain and grow with me. I learnt that when i speak from the core, people actually respond, because i carry the spirit, the work becomes a source of great joy, something i actually want to do. We have learnt to speak differently to our members, promise them blessings and show and let them feel great power from it. I am thankful that the work we do is true and everlasting work, don't we forget that family, we will always be in the service of God, and Jesus Christ, i'd love to say much more but my time permits me to do so, i love you all, i'll be writting a letter soon, and sending my memory card too, to place pictures on the computer at home there. Hey dad can you and mum find me some white pants, preferbaly dickies, i think im a size 44, but maybe 42, im in need of a smaller pair. Will up date you on the area nextweek, thats if im still here in Katherine, which i hope to be, cos we have 3 progressing investigators who all will baptised within at least 3 weeks...im excited, my prayers are with you too...Be safe...Love you heaps.YOur missionary, Posted by: Elder Hettig Date: September 6, 2006
Hey son, You must be busy. We didn't see you on the postboard last week. Hoping things are going good there for you son. I know it can become quite depressing when there's not many people to teach. Elder Stanton, who has been in our ward since about January/February goes home this coming Tuesday and his family are in fact already here. Staying in Howick with some of their non member whanau they have living here in NZ. I told him I would set up a special powhiri for him and his family with Herewini. This would be a unique way of introducing the gospel to his nonmember family in Howick and introducing the culture to his folks. It could be quite a strong missionary tool for them. Because Elder Stanton is from Montana and they have Native American Indian settlements there with wards of their own, I'm wanting to organise wananga's with them for Herewini to meet with their tribal members. Herewini has wananga'd with the Canadian Natives who are connected to this group in view of them being on the border of US and Canada. Its quite exciting actually. I mentioned to Herewini about the idea of doing an Aboriginal deal. It is possible, but they are not like our people. Their connections are totally different, however he mentioned that when he was doing a wananga in Australia one time, some Aboriginals came in to listen are were totally moved by it. So who's to say huh? Sister Haurua is in Auckland at the moment. She has written on the postboard. She is heading back this coming week. Its been good talking with her. Hope she gets well with her health soon. She's got some battles there. I have a non member brother here who I gave a blessing to over 3 years ago when he was to die from a heart failure. He was on his last legs a month ago when his family rang me to give him another blessing. I asked the Lord to spare him so we can teach him the gospel of Jesus Christ. He is now onto his third discussion and is currently praying for a baptism date. The miracle of change is fascinating as we see our fellowman develope their faith in God. I continue to marvel even though I have been privileged to witness these experiences from time to time, it never fails to excite me. I pray that you will find families to teach son. Keep going hard out for this time. Give all to the Lord. He will bless you accordingly. Elley leaves for Australia on the 21st to be with Syrene for a couple of months while we're in the US. Loreal is coming with us. Diederich is working as a security guard at the moment. Baron is looking for another job. Aki doin okay at school. Probably could do better, but he's loving the environment down there. We're hoping we can get Elley and a couple of your cousins from here going to day student at College for the ending of its life by 2009. Aki will virtually see his last years of high school out at the college whereas if Elley and your cousins Vernice, Strantz and Stacey will just about see their high school schooling out down there. Hopefully they can day stud by staying with Uncle Dion and Aunty Anna if they decide to live down there. Either way, the whole idea of having the kids down at college for its dying years is exciting. Well son, I will catch up with you later and continue to pray for you and your success. Love Dad. Posted by: Dad Date: September 6, 2006
Hey Ell,
Your dad gave me your site to get on and give you the latest updates, but I don't think I will, coz it will take forever! But to summarise, I'm in NZ at the moment and have been for 3.5 wks. My sister, who we rent with in sydney is also here having a break. My mum and my little niece's and nephew are also here from the islands, so our home is very busy! Since being here, we have been out visiting the whanau, checking out the Otara Markets, to get a bit of a 'cultural' buzz and the best thing of all, shopping!! I've been to the specialists here getting an update on my health which is not as good as I had hoped, but hey, I'm alive, which maters the most to me!
Ken still in sydney with the rest of the family while the youngest of the family is with me. She's enjoying her time with her cousins while I am out at work. Yeah, I can't sit around, got myself a job and this will be my last week before we head back to oz! Going to spend a few days with my mum etc. before leaving. Anyway, glad to hear that pago and jacinta made it to sacrament. How about Fei & Tavita along with their son? I also hear that you are in Catherine at the moment! If you ever get to Alice springs, visit my cousin, Tui Ford and his family. They are very strong members and if they are no longer in the Alice, they may be in Darwin. If you start missing the company of a poly, visit my cousin, he and his family will take care of you. By the way, the photos of you look pretty 'cool', you've lost a bit of weight, compared to Adelaide! Sounds like you have grown since being on your mission and don't forget, if you are in Sydney, give us a call. Got to go now - you take care! Posted by: No'o Haurua Date: August 30, 2006

Kia Ora Whanau! how you all doing? im loving it here, Katherine is still great...things have slowly picked up, alot has happen since i last wrote, now we have 2 very interested investigators and 1 who wants to be baptised soon...i haven't really had that before, but its going to be a full on few weeks here in Katherine and in the NT! Alice Springs Elders are coming to Darwin for Zone Conference, probaly the first time ever! so thats excitting, we were suppose to have Elder Pace visit us, but has postponed it till October or November...i think that was Uncle Dion's ex-mission president in Sydney North Mission! yeah and we really are looking forward to seeing the action happen in Katherine...Our Mission President, President Quinn is amazing, he really makes us feel so blessed, he is trully leading this mission in light and truth...(D&C 93:36
