Stuart has written to us letting us know that he is having a blast on his mission. He tells us that he is tired at the end of the day and that his companion says that his Spanish is getting better even though he doesn't feel like it is. He says sometimes people think they are the cops. He has been through his first lock down when the cops locked down a 5 block radius to catch someone that had just shot another person and he talked about how there were two helicopters and cops everywhere. He spoke of his compassion for a man that seemed to be living at a bus stop for two weeks and how he wanted to take him home and feed him and clean him up. His funniest story was about trying to talk to a woman and her daughter that were killing chickens while they talked to them and then invited them in to eat. A very funny story! Stuart is now at the CLAM (California Los Angeles Mission) and getting his bicycle road worthy and learning a lot of Spanish. He says that the people speak really fast but he is learning a lot. He likes his companion and thinks he is the best. I will try to keep this updated as I get more information. Posted by: Mom Gardner Date: August 15, 2008
I would like for those of you visiting Stuart's site to feel free to comment on his pictures or to leave any general comments you may have here on the post board please. I would love to let Stuart know who is keeping up with what is going on with him and visiting his site. It would, I am sure, make him feel more connected to those of you he cares about and loves. Thanks:-) Posted by: Mom Gardner Date: July 26, 2008
