Do you seriously get back next month! I was just getting curious about when you were getting back so I decided to check. I almost screamed, but I'm in the library so I had to hold it in! I'm exited to see you soon so don't stay in Indy to long (although I wouldn't really blame you for it!) Keep working hard up until your very last day!! I know you'll be great! Elder Hamner, We came back, but you are gone...
Can you believe we have been thrown out of the Greenwood Second ward, and back into the Franklin Ward? While we were gone all the young people grew up, and the rest got older. But we stayed the same! (grin)
It sounds like you have made your parents and your Heavenly Father proud of you, and served with honor. Now return the same way, and hurry, your Mom misses you. ( and your Dad and your brothers and sister and etc, etc, etc.

Elder Alex,
I have been so slothful since our baby was born. I just haven't been able to be consistant with my writing. Please know that even though I slacked off in my writing you are always in my prayers. I haven't slacked in that area. I hope that you are working hard like usual. "Until the end" Make every day count. I love you more than you can know.

Remember you helped me revise my paper for my college class? I have so many wonderful memories of you. I still think about you whenever I walk into Kohles. If you dont remember we went "missionary shoe shopping" together there. :) Hopefully your shoes arent worn out too much and you are making lifetime memories on your mission. Thank you for the good stories that help to build my testimony. Love the Salas Family Posted by: Aunt Nancy Date: April 18, 2007

Alex,
I\'m glad your mission is going so well. Remember, that even if people you teach do not get baptized while you are there, you have planted a seed! I recently contacted one of the sister missionaries that taught us, to let her know how the seed she helped plant has grown! We are now in contact with each other and it is wonderful! I also wanted to tell you a funny ... kids say the funniest things, one young primary boy in our ward said "you know you can't drink the baptismal water, because it's full of sin". how cute. Take care,

Hey Elder Alex Hamner :), In case you missed Lancers one liner, THE COLTS WON!!! Uncle Willie says that they have now graduated into "BRONCOS" :)Anyway, I wanted to tell you a little story that I thought was pretty cool. Kyle was baptized on Saturday, February 3. Uncle Gary confirmed him and when the bishop said who was going to confirm him, he announced it that his Grandpa Cleverly was going to do it. I'm really good friends with his wife so besides being my bishop and knowing that my Dad had just passed away, he also had closer ties to me. He felt so bad afterwards, but to me it was Heavenly Father confirming in my faith and hope that Grandpa "WAS" really there too. I love this gospel and I am so grateful for my membership in this True church of Jesus Christ. You are giving people those same blessing and once again sweetie, we are so proud of you. I love reading about your mission experiences. We love you Alex. Love Aunt Nancy and family Posted by: Aunt Nancy Date: February 6, 2007

Ok, Alex, the Colts went all the way! I know you would love it if you were here! I love reading your stories. You can't know how fun and neat it is for the people back home to hear what experiences you are having! Yeah! How exciting!

Hi Alex.
I am a friend of the Hamner family. My husband and I moved to Shelbyville after we had been married for one year. Tom had graduated from Indiana University, in Bloomington, which is where the missionaries found us and taught us the gospel. We lived in Shelbyville for 4 years. Until a year ago we lived in Ogden, Utah, where we still have a home. WE have lived for the past year in Queretaro, Mexico. My husband, Tom, is working there, for a company here in Ogden. We go to a completely Spanish-speaking ward. Neither of us spoke any Spanish when we moved there, but we speak some now. Are we fluent? Ha! Not even close! We signed up for two more years there, so maybe when we leave to come back to Utah we will actually be fluent.
Anyway, we LOVE the Mexican people! We have so much to learn from them. Most Americans think that Americans are superior... how little they know! While there are many, many, more THINGS in the US, there is much to be said for the love the people in Mexico have for each other. They are so warm and loving and kind. They are kinder to foreigners than Americans are to each other. I would be in Mexico right now, but I had two stints put in my heart on December 29. I did NOT have a heart attack, which I am very thankful about. Anyway, I get to fly back to Mexico this Wednesday!
My husband is the High Priest Group Leader at our Ward in Mexico and I am the Compassionate Service Leader in Relief Society.
I am very happy that you are serving your Heavenly Father in a country that I would imagine has the same kind of loving, warm people as Mexico. I think one of Heavenly Father's greatest desires is for all of his children to love ALL of his children! I know that as a parent of three kids, I sure did want that! I am very grateful that my kids do love each other a lot, so I can only imagine how Heavenly Father feels when we don't show that same love to each other.
I will try to write more some other time.... this took a long time because your Aunt Tammy, IM'd me and we spent a long time chatting.
Oh, do you remember the baseball movie with the line, "If you build it they will come." Well how about "If you love them they will know." Maybe kind of corny... but it is definitely TRUE!
Love,

Elder Hamner,
Yes! We are still alive and well, well, we are alive anyway. You didn't say what kind of bugs you were picking off yourself, that could make a world of difference in my reaction to you. You are experiencing he trip of a lifetime, make the most of it, and write everything down; so when you are old like us, you will be able to remember it. I was going to write this in spanish, but I don't see a spellcheck anywhere and you wouldn't be able to read it, mainly because I don't speak spanish. We wish you a wonderful, different, strange and memorable Christmas.
I've noticed that just a 'few' people in Indy are very proud of you, would you count us in that group also.
Merry Christmas

Hey, Elder Hamner,
I keep up with your adventures, thanks to your Dad and the website. I am sorry that I have not left you a note sooner. It sounds like you are having an awesome time. A couple of weeks ago I was a "member missionary" for the first time. A lady that works down the hall from me sorta pulled me aside and said"hey, you're a Mormon right?" I said yes, she said "can I ask you some questions" and we ended up talking for almost an hour. With almost everything I said she just kept saying, "really, wow", the next day, she had more questions, and 2 days later I gave her a Book of Mormon. She said, "Is this mine, and can I keep it?" So now I need to send her the missionaries. This was sort of scary for me, I was afraid that I might say the wrong thing, but with a prayer, the words just came. You go looking for "them" and one just "dropped" in my lap! Keep up the good works, you inspire me! Love ya, Sister Peggy Surface Posted by: Peggy Surface Date: November 11, 2006

Hi Alex, This is a good way for us to hear about your mission experiences. We are so happy for you and the choice you've made of serving your Heavenly Father. We know that you will be a great missionary! You have had a lot of good examples to follow. Well keep up the good work and enjoy yourself while "spraying down the bathrooms". It does look like it would be a lot of fun. You have such a good outlook on it. What a great young man! Keep up posted on your progress and your adventures after leaving the MTC. Love you lots, Aunt Brenda and Uncle Bob.
