This site is awesome!!!! My friend recommended it to me. Now I`m recommending it to my friends. It definitely makes it easier for everyone, especially us girls, to write the missionaries and give them something to show them we care or even just a letter to show that we really appreciate and respect what they are doing. Because no one said it was going to be an easy job, our support in any way possible can lessen the struggles they have to go through, even though the Lord is there with them. As another fellow missionary writer Kristen put it: "You can never show a missionary too much love. They surely appreciate it." Thanks for the site. I will definitely still be using it now that more missionary friends have gone to the MTC.

I heard about your website from our missionary son who is at the MTC but will be leaving for Mendoza Argentina soon. Thank you for the wonderful service you provide for families such as ours who live in Hawaii and mail takes up to 7 days to get to the MTC. It has been a life saver when we have had to contact our son for some important news. Well what can I say - an absolute life saver!!!! I am not a LDS but my son is and this is the first time we have had to say goodbye to a family member to serve as a missionary. It was heart wrenching BUT I know that he is in a safe place and that he is living a dream that he has had since the age of 8. A very dedicated LDS member had involved him in the Church and since then he has had the dream of going on mission. I thank LDS for the high standard they set for the young members - my son lived by them daily and I am a very proud of him. When he opened the mail and saw he was to serve in USA he nearly fainted as he is the first out of the ward!! He left early April 2007 for Provo MTC and I miss him dearly (Many a tear has been shed with love). Without this website I would not have felt so much at ease as I do - I know he is at least hearing from us on a regular basis and also has received a Care Package. Thank you once again for an absolute GREAT site - I will most definitly advertise the service.
Keep doing the 5-star service you are currently doing - I am sure all the moms of all the missionaries are thinking the same.
Thank you for helping us(all the families) make all the missionaries aware that we have not forgotten about them!!!!

Having been a missionary myself, at the MTC, 23 years ago, I remember how exciting it was to get mail and I recall that at that time it was only the missionaries from Utah/Idaho who received lots of mail - the rest of us waited and waited for something to appear in our mailboxes. This is great and all but I've had to retype two of my letters already. it told me my page has some error and I'm pretty sure that it didn't make it to where it was going. so right now I'm alittle frustrated with the whole dear elder thing. I made sure I was logged in and all that jazz it was going to the right mission and everything. so I think some things are just bunk. maybe there could be a way to save it so its still there when the web page decides crap out. besides that I like what your doing, this is definatly nice to have. I just hate retyping my letters. a save feature would be sweet!

I wrote a long letter, only to have a note pop up saying the website had expired. I tried to refresh, but it just took me back to the beginning, and my letter was gone. So frustrating! Is there a time limit to how long you can write? I was on for about 20 minutes at that point. It worked beautifully the first time I wrote to my son at the Provo MTC 2 days ago. Usually letters take 4-5 days from Anaheim. My daughter in NYC gets letters in 3. We really appreciate this service, since my son will be transferring to a foreign MTC shortly! Thanks for the help.

This is a great service! I am great with writing, but bad with finding stamps and envelopes, so if I didn't have you my letters would get there in a month instead of same day and I only live in Bountiful!
It would be pretty neat if there were a button you could click to have your letter translated into the language they are speaking. I don't know if Microsoft Word does that or not, but I thought it did something like that.

It is not only keeping me in touch with my Missionary in the MTC while he is preparing to go to Argentina. It also keeps me in touch with my husband when he is in Brazil. We share the same account so I can read the letters he sends to our son, and he can read the letters that I send.
I also print a copy of all of our letters and I am keeping them in a binder as a family journal for our Missionary.

First of all I would love to thank the person who started this site for all the Moms out there who have a son on a mission. Moms love to keep in touch with their missionary. This is the most wondeful way because when you have other children you are a very busy person. This makes it so easy to let them know we are thinking of them. I really love this website! However, I am not a fan of the dear john page. I realize that unfortuantely that does happen a lot. However, there are girls out there that are ACTUALLY waiting for their missionary! We would like a link that has a page with many other girls that are waiting. I think that if you have a dear john page, you should also have one that is for girls who are waiting for their missionaries, too!!!!

Without this service of quick letters from home it would have been very difficult to finish all we had to do to get him out there. I will contribute as soon as a few medical bills are paid. After preparing my only son all his life to serve, I found myself totally unprepared as a mother when he left. He will proudly be serving in the Mexico City North Mission and will leave the MTC June 19th. I like this website. I love reading the stories they are so spritual and I feel so happy when I read them. I'm not old enough yet to go on a mission but in about 5 years I will be then hopefully I can go. My son has just left the MTC and I would like to thank dearelder so much for their service. It meant that I could write to my son every day while he was there and that meant a great deal to me and also to our son. Dearelder.com is a great way to write your elder. People just do not write letters and keep in touch through the postal service. Heck we rarely did even when that was all we had. Email improved on the postal service and made keeping in touch almost as easy as a phone call. Now we have Dearelder.com that bridges the gap between email and snail mail. I have three children serving missions in Argentina, Russia, and Texas. My step-daughter just put her papers in and hopes to leave in June. I enjoy this service, because I can easily send a letter to each of them at the same time. I don't know if anyone else has four missionaries, but it is a great help for our family to have found this website!

I was worried that my letters would not get to him in time with my new address. By luck I got a letter from him telling me to use this website. I was very doubtful at first but I jumped at the chance. Now I write to him when ever I get the chance and know that he is getting a letter for sure, and that he will actually get it. I can not repeat enough how awesomely practical your service is! My letters get to my sister in Los Angeles faster than my mother's do (she still uses snailmail). Now I have another friend in the MTC who's going to Argentina-Rosario and I just sent him a letter today! Your service is a literal Godsend. If I lived in Utah, I would want to work for this site. If anyone needs help with visas, I work for a visa/passport expediter called TDS. Our website is http://www.traveldocs.com. Thank You! DearElder.com I love this place. My boyfriend is serving the Lord in Vancouver Canada and absoloutely loves it! At first he wasn't enjoying himself, he missed everyone at home. I was never sure what to do when he would get down. I am glad to know that whenever he gets sad I can come here and send a letter. NO RUNNING TO THE POST OFFICE!!! And boy does that come in handy, I have a full time job and do not have alot of time to run to the post office. Also thanks for providing us with the missionary websites from around the world. What a great service!! My son is in the MTC learning Japanese. He's our first missionary. We are proud of him, but the letter I received today concerned me., he seemed to be pretty discouraged. The mother in me wanted to drive to Provo and take care of him. (of course I can't do that) So instead I sent him a letter and cookies. I mailed a letter to him this morning but when I got his I knew he needed something faster! I just barely learned about this site and am looking forward to using it again and again. Our son is serving in the Utah SLC South Mission and I usually send him a letter every week through your service. When I do have to mail him a letter (with enclosures) from Canada, since 9.11 it can take 4 to 6 weeks before he gets it. So we really appreciate your great service - but I do think you should charge more. I also like looking at his friend's mission site from East Africa through your site, as well as the other LDS links you have. You're doing a great job!

I just want to say thank you for the wonderful service you provide. I was just recently in England and my son was at the Provo MTC. Your service made it easy for me to write to him and let him know of our love while we were away knowing that the letters would be delievered to him in a day instead of the week it would take to get from England. He left the MTC for his mission while we were away and because of Dear Elder we knew we could write him at either the MTC or send a letter to Montreal and that he would receive them all and none would get lost.
