Hey! Elder Shepherd can burp even louder than David! It cured me of all home sickness it one magical moment. I think I might even volunteer for an extra transfer after being reminded of that.

Alma 36:3. And now, O my son Helaman, behold, thou art in thy youth, and therefore, I beseech of thee that thou wilt hear my words and learn of me; for I do know that whosoever shall put their atrust in God shall be supported in their trials, and their troubles, and their afflictions, and shall be lifted up at the last day.
Neat Story:
The blessing of all of that time off was that I've come to love more of the scriptures. I've been ploughing through the New Testament and the Saviour is so profound. You kind of figure the Son of God would have been clever and wise, but as I really study his words I've come to realise He had a depth of understanding and empathy and insight that no one else had ever of has ever had since. Pharisees ask Him these devastating questions with all manner of cunning and I read them and try to answer as a missionary first...and I'm quite stumped...then I read the Saviour's answer and it's always the perfect response. Which just goes to prove that the Gospel is true and Jesus really did come to Earth and was the Divine Son of God because no mortal man could be as clever as that. None of the Arthur Miller plays or Lord of the Ringsy books have as much wisdom and insight into people as Jesus Christ. No man could have come up with that on his own. Even more neat than that, it's so clearly the same Jesus in the Book of Mormon. It's the same wisdom, the same love and the same manner of speech. It's the Messiah of the world visiting another flock of the one fold. The scriptures are great. Gordon B. Hinckley is also very clearly a Prophet because the only reason I started into the New Testament is because I was reading the Conference Ensign and he told the Young Women that they needed to involve the scriptures in their lives and he suggested the beginner start with the Gospel of John and the Book of Mormon. Wise men take wise counsel and I'm so glad I did. A Prophet won't ask you to do something unless it will help and their promises always seem to pay off so so so much more than the effort required of us.
