Neat Story:
Happy New Year. It's definitely felt at times like I've been here for a year already, but I'm loving every minute of it. We received 38(?) new Kohai on New Year's Eve which was really fun, it's been great seeing them adjust to missionary life and learn this amazing language. I can't believe I leave in a month for JAPAN! I am so excited, and things just get better at the MTC. The temple is open again so we were able to attend this morning and get the great breakfast (it really is ten no tabemono [heavenly food]). I don't think I told you last week but we had the opportunity to help clean the temple. What an amazing experience to do service in such an amazing building, I could even feel the spirit while sweeping up glue off the ground and carrying carpet around. I am so grateful to have it open again, it is definitely a nice break to have from the hectic MTC schedule. I also have my first (!) progressing investigator. We get to chat with those who have questions on Mormon.org every week, and last night I got to talk with Aleina, who has cancer and wants to know more about what will happen after this life. It was a powerful experience and I was able to bear my testimony of God's love for her individually (I love being to able to tell people about that) and she is reading 3rd Nephi 11 and I set up a return appointment with her today. It is really such a great opportunity I have to preach to people about these simple but profound truths, and see that the Spirit can even touch people's minds and hearts through the internet. This gospel is so powerful and amazing to me. Oh, there was something interesting that my Sensei shared with me a while ago (maybe 3 weeks ago?) about the story of the Good Samaritan. There was a talk about the symbolism of that story, maybe you can find it, it relates the story of the Good Samaritan to the Plan of Salvation (Adam is the man who travels from Jerusalem [heaven, if I remember correctly] and Christ is the Good Samaritan... etc.). Anyways, I found it really interesting. We are actually teaching the Plan of Salvation (Sukui no keikaku) completely in Japanese this Thursday! It's really amazing how fast I'm learning this language.
